Navratri Delight: Farali Pattice Recipe to Savor the Festive Flavors

Ingredients:

For the Potato Filling:

  • 4 Medium-sized boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 1 Cup finely chopped mixed nuts (almonds, cashews, and peanuts)
  • 1/2 Cup grated fresh coconut
  • 2 Green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 Teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 Teaspoon sendha namak (rock salt)
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

For the Outer Layer (Pattice Dough):

  • 1 Cup Rajgira (Amaranth) flour
  • 1/2 Cup boiled and mashed potatoes
  • A pinch of Rock Salt
  • Water, as needed

For Frying:

  • Ghee or oil

Instructions:

  1. In a pan, heat some ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped green chilies, ginger paste, and sauté for a minute.
  3. Add the mashed potatoes, mixed nuts, grated coconut, and sendha namak.
  4. Cook until the mixture is well combined and aromatic.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and let it cool.
  6. In a bowl, mix Rajgira flour, boiled and mashed potatoes, and a pinch of sendha namak.
  7. Add water gradually and knead it into a smooth, pliable dough.
  8. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into a ball.
  9. Flatten the ball, place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center, and seal the edges to form a patty.
  10. Heat ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the patties until they turn golden brown on both sides.
  11. Place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  12. Your Navratri special Farali Pattice is ready to be served! Enjoy these delightful treats with farali chutney or yogurt.
