Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 Cup Unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 Teaspoon ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Cup chopped Apples (peeled and cored)
  • 1/2 Cup chopped Walnuts or Pecans (optional)
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your Oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a Cake Pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the applesauce and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing well.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts (if using) into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared Cake Pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated Oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
