Delicious Recipes to Make with an Electric Cooker

Dal Makhani:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Whole Black Lentils (Sabut Urad Dal)
  • 1/4 Cup Rajma
  • 2 Medium Onions, Finely Chopped
  • 2 Medium Tomatoes, Finely Chopped
  • Water
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger-garlic Paste
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • Salt to Taste
  • 2 Tbsp. Ghee or Oil

Instructions:

  1. Wash and soak the whole black lentils and red kidney beans overnight or for at least 6 hours.
  2. Drain the soaked lentils and beans and transfer them to the electric pressure cooker.
  3. Add 4 cups of water, salt, and red chili powder to the cooker.
  4. Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Let the pressure release naturally.
  6. Open the lid and add chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, cumin seeds, and ghee or oil.
  7. Mix well and close the lid again.
  8. Cook on high pressure for another 10 minutes.
  9. Let the pressure release naturally.
  10. Open the lid and add garam masala powder.
  11. Mix well and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.

Vegetable Pulao:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Basmati Rice
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Mixed Vegetables (Carrots, Peas, Beans, Etc.)
  • 1 Onion, Sliced
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee or Oil
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 Cardamom Pods
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Drain the rice and transfer it to the electric rice cooker.
  3. Add 2 cups of water, salt, and mixed vegetables to the cooker.
  4. Close the lid and turn on the cooker.
  5. In a pan, heat ghee or oil and add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, and cardamom pods.
  6. Once the spices are fragrant, add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  7. Add the onion mixture to the rice cooker and mix well.
  8. Close the lid and let the rice cooker do its job.
  9. Once the rice cooker switches to the "Keep Warm" mode, let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
  10. Open the lid, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve hot.

Chana Masala:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Chickpeas (Chana), Soaked Overnight or for at Least 6 Hours
  • 2 Medium Onions, Finely Chopped
  • 2 Medium Tomatoes, Finely Chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Ginger-garlic Paste
  • Water
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 Tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 Tsp Red Chili Powder
  • Salt to Taste
  • 2 Tbsp Oil

Instructions:

  1. Drain the soaked chickpeas and transfer them to the electric pressure cooker.
  2. Add 4 cups of water, salt, and red chili powder to the cooker.
  3. Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 20-25 minutes.
  4. Let the pressure release naturally.
  5. Open the lid and add chopped onions, tomatoes
