For the Chocolate Mava Dough:

  • 1 Cup mava (khoya), grated
  • 1/4 Cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 Cup powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • A pinch of cardamom powder

For the Modak Filling:

  • 1/2 Cup desiccated coconut
  • 1/4 Cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, or pistachios)
  • 1/4 Teaspoon cardamom powder

Instructions:

Preparing the Chocolate Mava Dough:

  1. In a Pan, add grated mava and cook it on low heat, stirring continuously until it becomes soft and smooth.
  2. Remove the Panfrom the heat and allow the mava to cool slightly.
  3. Add cocoa powder, powdered sugar, milk, and a pinch of cardamom powder to the mava. Mix well until it forms a soft, chocolatey dough. Adjust sugar to your taste.

Creating the Modak Filling:

  1. In a separate Bowl, combine desiccated coconut, chopped nuts, and cardamom powder.
  2. This mixture will be the delicious filling for your modaks.

Shaping the Chocolate Modaks:

  1. Take a small portion of the chocolate mava dough and roll it into a ball. Flatten it into a small disc in the palm of your hand.
  2. Place a teaspoon of the coconut-nut filling in the center of the chocolate mava disc.
  3. Gently fold and shape the edges of the disc to form a modak, pinching the top to create a tip.
  4. Repeat the process for the remaining dough and filling.

Final Touch:

  1. Your Chocolate Modaks using mava are now ready to be savored! Place them on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper.
  2. Allow the Modaks to cool and set at room temperature for about an hour.
